Our History

Our Heritage: Woven into the Tapestry of God's Love

"I want you woven into a tapestry of love, in touch with everything there is to know of God.
Then you will have minds confident and at rest, focused on Christ, God's great mystery."
Colossians 2:2-3 The Message

Fifty years ago, Heritage Presbyterian Church was a dream in the minds of families who wanted to worship and serve God in Hales Corners.

On November 29, 1959 that dream became a reality as 53 people attended the first Heritage worship service at St. Thomas Aquinas Episcopal Church.

Fifty years later, we gathered on November 29, 2009 to thank God for the faith of our charter members, and to praise God for God’s presence in our life together.

Our fiftieth anniversary celebration had many wonderful parts full of delightful memories:

  • Our stewardship program created three anniversary “weavings called “Time”, “Talent” and Treasure” which we dedicated at our worship service. These art pieces created a “snapshot” of the people who are Heritage Church.
  • Our worship council invited all of our former pastors, and students back to preach or help us lead worship.
  • We enjoyed celebrating the decades when members joined.
  • Heidi Surprenant, our wonderful church musician, wrote an anniversary hymn that was sung by the choir.

Not only did the church celebrate 50 years, our annual Variety Show celebrated 10 years - and those who participated provided everyone with a delightful trip down "memory lane."

We continue to support the wider community with our mission emphasis on shelter, food and water, our relationship with our Tudor Oaks family, and participating in service projects and wider church ministries.

The next chapter in our history has begun.

On December 13th, 2015, after more than a year of discernment, our congregation voted to sell our property and move to a new location. Moving will help us focus on our ministries and a new vision for the congregation.

On May 8th, we celebrated the last service in our building with wonderful worship and sharing of memories. On May 15th we had a joyful Pentecost celebration at our new location, Tudor Oaks Senior Living Community, S77W12929 Mc Shane Dr, Muskego. Sunday services will continue at 10:00 a.m. at Tudor Oaks.

Join us as we move into an exciting new chapter in our history.

Future here we come!
